The Economy of South Africa being it's largest aspect, accounts for about 24% of its Gross Domestic Product.(GDP). It is ranked as an upper-middle income Economy, which makes the Country 1 of only 4 countries in Africa having the unemployment rate at over 25%, and the poor have limited access to Economic opportunities and basic services. The high levels of unemployment are considered by the Government and most South Africans to be the most salient economic problems facing the country.South Africa, unlike other market, has struggled through the late 2000's recession, and the recovery has been largely led by private and public consumption growth, while export volumes and private investment have yet to fully recover.
